Luke Skaggs

Luke Skaggs is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter, and recording artist. Originally, from Hendersonville, Tennessee, Luke’s musical journey began as a child with his immersion in American Roots music: bluegrass, gospel, Texas swing, and old time mountain music. He began playing violin at age 8, and picked up guitar as well as handful of world music instruments at age 12. His passion for music and traveling grew as he spent time on the road and in the studio with his parents, Ricky Skaggs and Sharon White Skaggs.

As an adult, Luke moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to apprentice under Leonard Jones musician where he developed his passion for music production and studio work. During this season, he joined Songs Of Water—a world music ensemble featuring Middle Eastern, African, and Eastern European expressions—led by Stephen Roach.

Currently, Luke works as a session musician and is an instrumentalist with the Cageless Birds music collective. He travels and plays electric guitar and fiddle for Jonathan & Melissa Helser, and continues to license music through Music Bed under Songs of Water. Luke was a producer on Molly Skaggs’ album, Overtaken, and Joel Case’s album, Found in Love. Luke continues to write, produce, and record music for musicians from his at-home music studio. He lives in Asheboro, North Carolina with his wife, Rosemary Skaggs and their son.
