A Week to Reflect, Play and Rest
This past fall, a beloved leader spoke into our lives and said, “The leadership and success of your schools will grow to the extent that your connections grow as a team of friends.” We took this to heart and have been intentionally cultivating our relationships with one another this year through the practice of honest conversations, play and rest.
One extravagant way we grow our relationships every spring is through an annual staff vacation to the North Carolina coast. Our entire Cageless Birds team takes time off from work to engage in play and rest with those we serve alongside throughout the year. Thirty-two of us boarded a ferry to Bald Head Island, where we gathered around tables, played in the ocean, biked through forests of palm trees and lifted up a sound of worship for what God has done this year. We realize the great gift it is to take time to slow down and savor friendship outside of our everyday work environment, especially before we dive deep into another year of discipleship and creativity.
Below are some highlight moments from our time at Bald Head Island. We hope that wherever you find yourself this summer, you enjoy the gift of friendship with those you love.
